Junior Lawyer, MARN 1911837
Basir completed his combined Bachelor of Laws and Business (Major: Finance) at La Trobe University in 2017 and a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice at the College of Law in 2018. He was admitted to the Supreme Court of Victoria as a Practising Lawyer in May of 2019. Basir joined CFIL in May 2019 and is a Junior Lawyer with the firm.
In his current role, Basir has assisted in a number of matters including applications for partner visas, visa refusals and cancellations as well as matters before the Administrative Appeals Tribunal. In his previous role, Basir worked as a paraprofessional Interpreter in the Dari and Hazaragi languages. He’s had extensive experience working with asylum seekers in Manus island and is a true advocate for the rights of asylum seekers and refugees in Australia.
Basir’s passion for immigration law is derived from his own family’s refugee background. Accordingly, he has a deep interest in immigration law and continually aspires to excellence. Basir has a strong desire to deliver positive outcomes for his clients and is a valued member at CFIL.
