Basir completed his combined Bachelor of Laws and Business (Finance) at La Trobe University in 2017 and a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice at the College of Law in 2018. He was admitted to the Supreme Court of Victoria as a Practising Lawyer in May of 2019 and joined CFIL shortly after as Junior Lawyer.
Basir currently assists in a number of matters including applications for partner visas, visa refusals and cancellations as well as matters before the Administrative Appeals Tribunal. In his previous role, Basir worked as a paraprofessional Interpreter in the Dari and Hazaragi languages. He’s had extensive experience working with asylum seekers in Manus island and is a true advocate for the rights of asylum seekers and refugees in Australia.
Basir’s passion for immigration law is derived from his own family’s refugee background. Propelling his deep interest in immigration law and strong desire to deliver positive outcomes for his clients.
