Senior Lawyer, MARN 1069183
Kian was admitted to practice as a solicitor in 2010.
Since his admission as a solicitor Kian has worked exclusively within immigration law. Prior to joining CFIL, Kian worked in the Administrative Law Practice for a large national law firm and advised on and appeared for the Minister for Immigration for Border Protection in immigration matters.
Prior to this Kian worked at a large global immigration law firm and led that firm’s practice in Perth, Australia for three years. While in Perth, Kian provided immigration legal advice to some of Australia’s and the world’s largest companies (including a number of Fortune 500 and ASX 200 companies). In addition, Kian provided high-level advice on immigration issues and workforce strategies on Australia’s largest oil and gas project which included advice on Government lobbying. In addition, Kian developed a strong non-corporate practice which entailed assisting individual clients with complex immigration issues such as complex visa and citizenship applications, visa cancellations, visa refusals and citizenship refusals. Earlier in his career, Kian was involved with the Immigration Advice and Assistance Scheme (IAAAS) and travelled to a number of detention centres to provide advice to asylum seekers.
Kian has provided advice to clients across all areas of immigration law (in particular 457 (now 482), ENS, RSMS, Partner visa applications, citizenship and visa refusals and cancellations). He has appeared before the Administrative Appeals Tribunal for citizenship and visa application refusals as well as visa cancellations. Kian has also appeared and instructed in the Federal Circuit Court.
Kian is focussed on providing accurate advice and achieving positive outcomes for his clients.
